Hi:

Is it common in China for a 15-year-old boy to be gentlemanly to a 14-
year-old girl and *not* hit her even if she hits him first?

Thanks

14 and 15-year-old children are Middle School children, by which time
they would be taught all the necessary civics observed in their
community. If a 14-year-old girl were to hit a 15-year-old boy in
China, she must have a damn good reason for doing it, and more likely
than not, he deserved it, even had it been here in the West. Had they
been Muslims, then the issue would be totally different.

The concept of being a gentleman in the West doesn't necessarily
coincide with those of other parts of the world. This is why many
foreigners in the U.S. appear to be "barbaric". Luckily many
foreigners who come to settle in the U.S. have themselves received
some form of Western schooling, and their children are sent to
American schools that teach them the basic rules of Western conduct.

You are welcome.

Is this a trick question? Did the girl hit the boy during a martial
arts sparring session? :-)
